From the pension fund he joined Bankers Trust Company and founded Bankers Trust Company of California while in Los Angeles. Dan then moved to London, England to establish several businesses for the bank in Europe. While in London he joined a group of long-time colleagues to start a specialty investment management firm called Pareto Partners. From its founding in 1991 until he left Pareto when it was purchased by Mellon Bank in early 2006, the firm grew to manage assets in excess of $50 billion. Dan served as Managing Director of Global Marketing and Client Service. In addition to business interests, Dan has been involved in numerous AIDS and social service related organizations here and abroad. He most recently served on the Board of Directors and as Acting Executive Director of the Asian University for Women Support Foundation, where he lead fundraising efforts to establish a new university in Bangladesh to educate the next generation of women leaders in Asia. Dan is now a wealth manager with Merrill Lynch in Palm Springs, California. He is a Regent representing the Palm Springs Area. In his own words . . ."I grew up on a farm in very rural Minnesota. My life was transformed by two advantages: support from my family and higher education. The Point Foundation strives to provide these same advantages to GLBT students who haven't had many breaks in their lives. For those students who haven't had family support we provide mentors and a community of Point Scholars. We also provide financial security where none existed and with that security, the opportunity for Point Scholars to really make something out of the college experience and out of their lives. The Point Foundation is identifying and supporting future leaders for our community. Who could resist being part of something so powerful and so exciting?" |
