Privacy Policy for The Point Foundation

The Point Foundation acknowledges the importance of protecting the privacy of all visitors to the Point Foundation Web site and all scholarship applicants.  The information we collect is used to improve the services we offer, to improve our Web site’s content, and, with your permission, to contact you with updates to our Web site or other scholarship and donor information.  However, the Point Foundation will not distribute, share, sell or rent any information or data obtained on this site or the Point Foundation online application Web site with any other company or marketing group external to the Point Foundation.  Nor will the Point Foundation distribute, share, sell or rent any information that may be obtain by mail as it relates to the application process for potential Point Scholars with any other company or marketing group external to the Point Foundation.  The Point Foundation may provide aggregate statistics about the Point Foundation Web site users, traffic patterns and related site information to reputable third-parties for potential fund raising efforts.  Such statistical information will not include personally identifying information, with the exception of personal information of actual Point Scholars (who have been awarded scholarships) whereby permission has been granted by such Point Scholars.

What information is captured from visitors to The Point Foundation website and it's online application website?

The Point Foundation Web server uses an extended log file format which captures: date and time of visit, referred address (location from which a visitor comes to thepointfoundation.org) type of Internet browser, and visitor’s IP address.  (Each computer that connects to the Internet is assigned a unique number, an IP Address, for identification purposes).  The log file does not capture a visitor’s email address.

Is personal information requested and how is the information used?

There is currently only one area which ask for personal information, and that is the online application Web site.  This information is intend for the use of only the Point Foundation in the process of evaluating applications for potential scholarships to be awarded by the Point Foundation.  None of the information collected, either electronically or by mail, is shared with organizations external to the Point Foundation.
