With the founding of Enso, JP returns to his entrepreneurial roots where he spends his time steeped in strategic planning and campaign execution for the firm’s clients. Enso’s diverse client roster spans consumer, luxury, technology and entertainment and includes work with FOX and the Give a Note Foundation, Danhov, Factual, Family & Party Games and Peer Squared. Spanning more than 18 years, JP’s career boasts high-profile experience in strategic planning, creative oversight, new media initiatives, brand positioning, integrated marketing, and product launches. Regional and global brands like Nestle, Google, Symantec, Coors Brewing Company and ESPN have benefited from his counsel and strategic oversight. More recently, JP orchestrated the communications launch of a US State Department global initiative – the Democracy Video Challenge. This global video challenge (in partnership with YouTube) attracted thousands of submissions from every corner of the globe and culminated with a three-week US tour of the winners with national media (TODAY Show), filmmakers and State Department officials, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton personally awarding each of them. In the past 10 years, JP has championed product launches such as the introduction of Mobile ESPN at Super Bowl XL in February 2006 and Qualcomm’s FLO TV in 2009. Prior to founding Enso, JP served as general manager of Edelman’s Los Angeles office – the largest firm in the market. Also of note is JP’s tenure as executive vice president and chief strategist at CarryOn Communication, a national communication and brand marketing agency. In this role, he served as the senior creative strategist across the agency’s three markets – New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. JP led several award-winning campaigns during his tenure, including the Ansari XPrize “Race to Space” – garnering the coveted Silver and Bronze Sabre Awards in 2005. This launch, culminating with over 500-plus journalists in the Mojave Desert, landed on the covers of more than 50 magazines, including TIME and National Geographic. In the infant days of the Internet, JP held a communications post at CompuServe, building and driving grassroots and media awareness campaigns for its market-dominating online community – competing aggressively against AOL’s burgeoning dial-up service. Prior to his foray into the technology arena, JP orchestrated regional advocacy campaigns for the National Cancer Institute’s tobacco control initiatives, resulting in multiple local non-smoking ordinances and laws passed throughout the Midwest. He began his career as a journalist at a Midwestern newspaper. JP is recognized as a PR industry leader, participating in several industry panel discussions and teaching at the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School as adjunct faculty from 2005-2007. He also serves on the National Board of Regents for the Point Foundation, a national non-profit dedicated to providing financial support and mentoring to meritous students who have been marginalized due to sexual orientation or gender identification. Previously, JP served on the Board of Directors for Pathways, a Los Angeles-based non-profit serving the special needs of low income families. Earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations, JP graduated with honors from Butler University. Outside of work, he is typically exploring California’s mountains by bike, boot, snow shoe, ski or any other vehicle he can devise – recently adding a success summit of Mount Whitney to his list of achievements. |
