Alyn Libman
University of California BerkeleyConcentration: American Studies, LGBT StudiesAlyn is TPFs first female-to-male transgender Point Scholar. Growing up in Los Angeles as a gender non-conforming child, Alyn was harassed, stigmatized and ostracized by peers and teachers. Alyn was a California State Student Organizer for the Day of Silence Project, testified in front of the California State Senate regarding youth and trans issues, and has presented workshops on transgender lives to more than 700 youth at the Models of Pride Conference. The only freshman accepted into UC Berkeleys Phi Alpha Delta pre-law fraternity, Alyn plans on becoming a civil rights attorney and eventually working for the ACLU or Lambda Legal. In Alyns own words: My career has taught me leadership skills, discipline and commitment. I chose to be a leader because nobody else was going to fight my battles for me. |
